Economic development in Benton will be the focus of a breakfast event Thursday at the Benton Event Center.
Billed as "Breakfast with the Chamber," the meeting is sponsored by the Benton Area Chamber of Commerce Economic Development Committee.
The speaker for the morning will be John Doubleday of SHOP Companies of Dallas.
Recently, Doubleday was present at the groundbreaking of Hurricane Creek Village Shopping Center, one of the Retail Connection’s two major investments in Central Arkansas.
Doubleday was the primary leasing agent for the property.
Included in his presentation Thursday morning will be answers to such questions as “What attracted the company to our city?”, “What do you share with businesses to get them to take part in these ventures?”, “How does the future of our city look?”
The planned center will be anchored by a 123,000-square-foot Kroger Marketplace store and a 62,000-square-foot Academy Sports store. Hurricane Creek Village plans to build approximately 17,000 square feet of shop space in Phase I of the project in addition to the anchors and pad sites.
Announcement of more retail stores that are signing onto the new center will be made in the next couple of months, a chamber spokesperson noted.
"This is one event that you won’t want to miss, so make plans now to attend," said Jerry Beaty, administrative assistant to the chamber executive director, Gary James.
Breakfast will be served by Riverside Grocery and Catering.
Reservations and payment can be made online. Cost is $12 per person.
