July 29, 2014

BENTON — According to a press release sent by Lt. Kevin Russell with the Benton Police Department, officers responded to the South Street-Main Street intersection Monday on reports of a possible attempted kidnapping.

The victim, 16-year-old female juvenile, said a Hispanic male tried to lure her into his single-cab Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck as she was walking. She said he opened the passenger door of his vehicle and tried to get her to get in while speaking something in spanish and motioning for her to get in. The truck is two-toned with the upper half painted purple or dark blue and the lower painted red.

The report says that a witness noticed what was happening and yelled at the suspect, who then drove away.
