Burglary suspects leave small child in car during break-in

June 17, 2014

James Weddle, 47, and Adam Darrough, 26, both of Little Rock.

Benton police responded Sunday to Tractor Supply Co. where they found two men who allegedly had committed commercial burglary while leaving a 3-year-old child inside a vehicle.

When officers arrived at the scene, they saw a U-haul truck in the back of the building with merchandise from the business.

"It was determined by detectives that the U-Haul truck had been stolen out of Little Rock just prior to the incident," said Lt. Kevin Russell, Benton Police Department spokesperson. A lock that secured the back gate to Tractor Supply was cut and the company's lawnmower was found in the truck, Russell said.

Both James Weddle, 47, of Little Rock and Adam Darrough, 26, of Little Rock were charged with commercial burglary, theft of property, theft by receiving and criminal mischief.

Darrough also was charged with endangering the welfare of a minor because he allegedly left his 3-year-old child in a separate vehicle at the crime scene, Russell said.

Benton officers still are looking for another suspect involved in the incident.

If residents have more information about this crime, they are asked to contact the Benton Police Department at 501-778-1171 or 501-315-TIPS.
