Wednesday, June 4, is designated as National Running Day. Runners are encouraged to lace up their running shoes and hit the pavement.
The Little Rock Marathon will partner with Go! Running and Rock City Running to host a free group run at 6 a.m. on National Running Day in Murray Park in Little Rock. Participants are asked to meet at the pavilion entrance.
This event is held annually on the first Wednesday in June as an effort to promote running/walking as a healthy, easy and accessible form of exercise.
"Everyone can run or walk any distance they desire," said Gina Pharis, co-executive of the Little Rock Marathon. "This day is about coming together as a community to celebrate living a healthy lifestyle; t celebrate our strong running community; and to encourage those who have been thinking about starting to meet some of the people in this community and take their very first steps to get started."
The run/walk will not be timed and participants are encouraged to travel any distance they desire. The event is free, but registration is required. Commemorative National Running Day stickers will be given out at the event.
