Charles “Charley” Morris Edmonson

Charles “Charley” Morris Edmonson, 62, of Benton, passed away Monday, July 11. He was born February 1, 1949, in Bauxite. Charley retired as a First Sgt. from the U.S. Army, then worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 20 years, until his retirement in February. He was a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church where he served as deacon. Charley was preceded in death by his parents, Lofton and Corene Edmonson, and two brothers, Wayne Edward Edmonson and Ronald Morgan Edmonson.
He is survived by his wife, Avon Edmonson, of Benton; two daughters, Ronda Edmonson and Carol Brown, both of Hot Springs; sister, Mary Chism of Benton; three grandchildren, Terrin, Abby and Gage, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Michael Edmonson, Bryan Edmonson, Derek Chism, Brad Chism, Rick Davis and Gary Sledd.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Ashby Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Ashby Funeral Home with burial at Old Rosemont Cemetery.
