Chief Master Sgt. Donald E. "Sam" Hodshire (Ret. USAF)

Chief Master Sgt. Donald E. "Sam" Hodshire (Ret. USAF), 81, of Venus, Texas, passed away August 24, while surrounded by his loving family at his Venus home. Sam was born November 24, 1929 in Granite City, IL to Jackson and Alma Grace Hodshire. He served his country proudly in the United States Air Force and retired in 1969 having achieved the highest rank of the enlisted, Chief Master Sergeant. On December 5, 1953 Sam married Etta Watson  in Dundee, Scotland.  He had a unique sense of humor and easily made friends wherever he went. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and gardening. Sam will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Sam was preceded in death by his brother, John Hodshire of Benton.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 58 years, Etta "Pat" Hodshire, a son, Alan Hodshire formerly of Cleburne, Texas; two daughters, Dawn Martinez and her husband Alfred of Venus,Texas and Lyn Stinson and her husband Mike of Cripple Creek, Colo.; brothers, Jack Hodshire of Benton, and Robert Hodshire of Pangburn; sister, Judith Chase of Benton; 16 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild
A memorial service with full military honors will be held on Saturday, September 3, at 7 p.m. at the family home, 332 English Trail; Venus, Texas. under the direction of Alternative Funeral Services, 1556 Heritage Parkway, Mansfield, Texas 76084.
