Clarence Douglas James, 80, of Benton passed away Saturday, Feb 9. He was born in Harrisburg, to the late Virgil Adron James and Mary Lois Winningham James Davenport on Oct. 15, 1932. He was a graduate of Trumann High School and Arkansas State University and served in the U.S. Army for two years, the National Guard and the U.S. Army Reserve. His hobbies were spending time with his grandchildren and creating his inventions.
He is survived by the mother of his children, Carole Redd James; son Virgil Jeffery James of Benton; daughter Susan Lois King of Benton; two grandchildren, Celia Ann Deckelman and husband Justin of Benton and Melanie Suzette King of Little Rock; and three great-grandchildren, Ian, Aiden, and Justin Deckelman Jr.
Funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m., Tuesday, Feb.12, at Roller-Ballard Funeral Home in Benton, with the Rev. Lorrie Slaymaker officiating. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. at Harrisburg Memorial Park in Harrisburg.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, Feb. 11, at the funeral home.
