Courtney Brice Pope

Courtney Brice Pope, 77, passed away Sunday, Dec. 4, in Shongaloo, La. She was born March 2, 1934 to Maben Rogers and Mertice Laverne Thornton Brice in Shreveport.
She had been a resident of Cotton Valley, La., since 1961, a faithful and active member of First Baptist Church and was a retired manager of Recycling Employees Federal Credit Union, Cotton Valley, for numerous years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and was loved by many friends.
Mrs. Pope was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Marlon Pope.
She is survived by her daughters, Cynthia P. Cater and husband Doug of Shongaloo, La., and Debra P. Roberts and husband Pat of Benton; seven grandchildren, Sara Baker and husband Dustin, Rachel Stephens, Courtney Goodwin and husband Cody, Joseph Clark, Jon Chris Roberts and wife, Carmen, Colby Roberts, Ashton Roberts; six great-grandchildren, Brice, Eli, Leyton, Wesley, Maddox, Zoey; brothers, Thornton Brice and wife, Linda of Shreveport, David Brice and and wife Betty of Ivan, La.; a special friend, Frank Brown of Cotton Valley, La.; two step-grandsons, Nick Cater and Micheal Cater; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, Dec. 7, at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Cotton Valley with Rev. Don Shirley officiating. Burial will follow in Springhill Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home of Cotton Valley.
Serving as pallbearers are Cody Goodwin, Dustin Baker, Joseph Clark, Jon Chris Roberts, Colby Roberts and Ashton Roberts.
Visitation will begin Tuesday, Dec. 6, at 5 p.m. and continue until 8 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Cotton Valley.
