Crossfit Legit gym debuts new program

August 22, 2014

The Crossfit Legit gym in Benton will be hosting an open house today to debut a new program for children.

The open house will take place from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at 3309 Winchester Drive in Benton.

Jason Miller, who has always enjoyed fitness, originally opened his gym in Bryant but has since moved to Benton to allow for more growth. The new location is also more convenient for many people, he said.

During the event, different groups will be performing workout demonstrations. A food truck, Beast Truck, and snow cones by Icemeister will also be available.

Children will be taking part in a demonstration to teach attendees about a new Crossfit Kids program the gym will be starting Sept. 1, said Beth Ann Patterson, who will be a coach for the program.

This program will emphasize body awareness and teach youngsters how to move correctly, Patterson said.
"For some kids it's just about getting them active," Patterson said.

Patterson is a coach for the regular Crossfit program and is experienced in gymnastics, she said.
A group of age 40-plus people also will also perform a demonstration at the event.
