Northern Sr. and Geraldine Northern.  Buddy played football for the Benton Junior High Bulldogs during his seventh, eighth and ninth grade years.  Going into high school, he played football for the Benton Panthers under Coach Tom Hardin.  Buddy lettered in football and track.  He was a member of the 1963 Region III AA Champs football team where he played tackle.  Buddy was selected All-State and also All-District.  He graduated from Benton High School in 1964 and received an athletic scholarship to the University of Arkansas where he played for the 1964 National Championship Team under Coach Frank Broyles.  While at the University of Arkansas, he earned a degree in business law in June of 1970.  In 2009, Buddy was inducted into the Benton Athletic Memorial Museum Wall of Fame.
