Donia 'Moma' Camp

February 10, 2014

Donia “Moma” Camp, 81, passed from this life to her heavenly home on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014.
She was born Jan. 22, 1933, to George and Viola (Hill) Lemons of Bauxite.
“Moma” Camp, as she was known for 27-plus years to many patrons of Bullock’s Market in Benton, always served her special love to her customers. With heartfelt compassion, she’d welcome her friends: “Hi, Hon!”, “Sugar, can I help you?”, “Come back, Hon.” (Just to mention a few.)
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clay Camp Jr.; her son, Burl C. Camp Sr.; a brother, Winfred Lemons; and three sisters, Helen Hendrix, Joyce Gilmore and Loyce Lemons.
She is survived by her daughters, Guylan “Kay” Camp and Tonia R. Williams (Ricky) of Benton; two grandchildren, Burl Camp Jr. and Violet Camp; and great-grandchildren, Kymber, Amber and Chase Hurt, Hannah and Savannah McClerkin, and Sarah and Emma Williams.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10, at Roller-Ballard Funeral Home (315-4047) with Bishop O.D. Crabtree and the Rev. Burrell Crabtree officiating. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander.
Serving as pallbearers are Burl Camp Jr., Dustin Hendrix, Steven Lemons, Danny Edmonson, Harold Edmonson, Don Huskey and Keith Camp.
“My Boys,” as she called the Benton city workers she served meals to while working at Bullock’s, are serving as honorary pallbearers.
Visitation is set from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 9, at the funeral home.
