Elzie Jean (Brewer) Mashburn, 83, a resident of the Sardis Community in saline County, went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her family on Monday, Nov. 12.Â She was born March 4, 1929, to the late Sidney and Brunie Mae (Lemons) Brewer in Little Rock.
She was a member of Landmark United Pentecostal Church and an associate member of the Arkansas-Mississippi Chapter of the Second Marine Division Association.
She was always there for her family, friends, and her church.Â She loved to quilt, do needlework, sew, garden and worship her savior.Â
Elzie was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Leonard Brewer; and her beloved sisters, Edith Mashburn and Letha Mae Crutchfield.
She leaves behind her husband of 65 years, Roscoe Mashburn; daughters, Betty Kaucher and husband John of Mabelvale, and Sue Cole and husband Jerry of Little Rock; a son, Ross Mashburn and wife Mary of Bryant; a brother, Harley Brewer of Little Rock; nine sisters, Lela Benight of NLR, Irma McCrotty of Bryant, Barbara McCrotty of Benton, Mary Cheatham, Joan Reynolds, Helen Weymouth, and Carolyn Smith, all of Little Rock, Sidney Scoles of Bigelow, and Brenda Zelda of Lonsdale.
She is also survived by seven grandchildren, John Alan Kaucher, Michael Kaucher, Jeff Haney, Jennifer Morgan, Heath Cole, Clint Cole and Jessica Mashburn; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and other family members and many friends.
Funeral service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov, 15, at Ashby Funeral Home with the Revs. Jim Pelkey and Jerry Strickland officiating.Â Burial will follow in Salem Cemetery at East End. Grandsons serving as pallbearers are John Alan Kaucher, Michael Kaucher, John Morgan, Nicholas Kaucher, Chris Lepper, Kevin Bradshaw and Jeff Haney.Â
Visitation is set from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Nov. 14, at the funeral home.
