Ernie D. Gibson

Ernie D. Gibson, 90, of Benton went to be with the Lord on Oct. 21, 2013.  He was doing what he loved — working in his garden. 
Ernie was born Jan. 3, 1923, in Jonesboro to the late John and Bertha Lawson Gibson. He was retired from Alcoa and had been a faithful member of Crossroads Missionary Baptist Church since 1950.
Ernie was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 62 years, Dorothy Jean Gibson; and his brother, J.W. Gibson.
He is survived by his three children, Sandra Barnett, Gary Gibson, Mark Gibson and wife Debbie, all of Benton; five grandchildren, Tracy Gibson, San Francisco, Michelle Gibson, David Gibson and wife Reesa, Erica Gibson and Rachel Minner and husband Chris; two great-grandchildren, Haylee Gibson and Aimslee Minner, all of Benton.
Funeral service will be held at at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, at Crossroads Missionary Baptist Church with Brother Robbie Horne officiating. Burial will follow at Fairplay Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Oct. 23, at Ashby Funeral Home,
