Everett GMC splits games in Pine Bluff Tourney
The Benton Everett GMC AA Legion baseball team defeated Little Rock Blue Post but lost to Pine Bluff in Saturday’s tournament at Pine Bluff High School.
Everett scored a run in the first inning, five in the second, one in the fourth, one in the fifth and two in the sixth to defeat Blue Post 10-9 in the first game. Blue Post scored a run in the fourth and eight in the fifth.
Dylan Oliver pitched three innings, allowing just two hits with two strikeouts and two walks. Holden Hanley pitched one inning, but allowed six runs on two hits with a strikeout and a walk.
Holt Fulcher pitched 2/3 of an inning, allowing one run on no hits with a strikeout and two hit batters. Hunter Wray pitched 1 1/3 inning, allowing one run on one hit with two strikeouts.
Austin Kennedy had an RBI single, and Jeffrey Hodge had an RBI double in the sixth inning to give Everett the one-run lead.
In the second game of the tournament on Saturday, host-team Pine Bluff defeated Everett 15-0 in four innings.
Tyler Willis pitched two innings, allowing five runs on four hits with two walks. Caleb Terry pitched one inning, allowing seven runs on four hits with two walks, and Tyler Lewis pitched one inning, allowing three runs on two hits, with two hit batters.
Pine Bluff defeated AA Everett GMC 13-4 on Friday after scoring three runs in the first, three in the seventh and two in the fourth. Benton scored a run in the first and three in the fourth.
In the first, Everett cut the deficit to 3-1 on an RBI double by Corky Welch, which scored Hunter Wray, who reached on a single.
In the fourth, Welch led off with a home run and, an out later, Dylan Oliver was hit by a pitch. Austin Kenney singled and Tyler Lewis reached on an error that scored a run.
Alex Wilcox pitched 2 2/3 innings, allowing 10 runs on seven hits. Brad Neighbors pitched 1 1/3 innings and allowed two runs. Holden Hanley pitched one inning and allowed one hit.
