Floyd Byrd, Jr., 79, of Gulfport, Miss., succumbed to cancer at his home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013. Floyd was a retired Air Force SMSGT and a recipient of the Air Force Commendation Award. He served in the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. Floyd was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend to all.
Floyd is survived by his wife, Carolyn. of 34 years; a sister, Imogene Gamble of Jonesboro; a daughter, Suzanne McCray and husband Jack of Benton; a son, Stephen Byrd and wife Clarice of Texas City, Texas; a son, Thomas Kealhoffer and wife Jennifer of Seattle, Wash; s daughter, Kimberly Plaisance and husband Rick of Gulfport, Miss; and loving grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 24, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road in Gulfport.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service.
Floyd will be buried in a private ceremony with military honors at the National Cemetery in Biloxi, Miss.
