Francis A. 'Pete' Russ

Francis A. "Pete" Russ, 87, of Benton passed away Monday, Jan. 7, at his home.  He was born in Little Rock on Feb. 4, 1925. 
Mr. Russ served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II. His ship, the USS Goss, was a member of the fleet in Tokyo Bay when Japan surrendered to Gen. Douglas MacArthur.
He retired from the sheet metal shop at Alcoa after 30 years of service and was a long time member of Geyer Springs Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Hazel (Kriegbaum) Russ, and daughter, Charliss Russ.
A graveside service was held Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, in the gazebo at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander with the Rev. John Perkins officiating.
