George Auther Whatley, age 70, of Benton went to be with his Lord on Monday, Aug. 5, 2013.
He was born June 8, 1943 in Hensley to the late Claude Whatley and Vera Styles Whatley. He was an Army veteran and former owner of Statewide Roofing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Charlotte Whatley; a son, David Whatley; a sister, Winnie June Peoples; and three brothers, Ben Whatley, Floyd Whatley and Charley Whatley.
He is survived by his daughter, Georgia Whatley of Benton; a granddaughter, Alishia Vergason and husband Shawn; great-grandson, Wade Vergason of Benton; sisters, Madge Guynn of East End and Delores Barker and Donnie Baldwin of Little Rock; and a special friend, Donna Lamberg; and numerous family members and friends that he loved dearly.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 9, at Roller-Drummond Funeral Home, 10900 Interstate 30, Little Rock, AR 72209 (501), telephone 455-5800. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Aug. 8, at the funeral home.
