Glen Rose beats tourney host Harding 7-4

The Lady Beavers beat 3A Region 2 Tournament host Harding Academy 7-4 Friday to advance to the next round of the tourney.
Glen Rose, a No. 3 seed, now faces No. 1 seed and 3A-5 Conference foe Cutter-Morning Star at 1:45 p.m. today. Harding was the tournament No. 2 seed.
Cutter beat No. 4 seed Bald Knob 15-0 Friday. The Lady Beavers beat Cutter during the regular season, but lost to them in the district tournament.
Head coach Kyle Lem said, “We played pretty hard, pretty sound. We hit the ball better, but we’re still not where we need to be.”
Glen Rose scored three runs in the first inning and one in third to take a 4-0 lead. After Harding scored one in the third, both teams scored two runs in the fifth to make it a 6-3 game.
Both teams then scored a run each in the seventh for a final score of 7-4.
Senior Madison Jacobs pitched all seven innings for Glen Rose, allowing four runs on five hits with three walk and four strikeouts.
“She battled,” Lem said. “We survived the bottom of their lineup pretty well, but we let them get their runs.”
Senior Hollie Boles went 3-4, only lacking a home run for the cycle.
Sophomore Kylie Shepherd had a triple and three RBIs. Sophomore Rebecca Tuggle had a hit and one RBI. Senior Stephan Farber walked twice, scored twice and had two steals. Senior Tiffany Houpt had a triple with one RBI.
