Household hazardous waste now accepted

Household hazardous waste is now being accepted for Saline County residents every Wednesday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Saline County maintenance building in Benton, located at 205 S. East St. 
No businesses may drop off at this location, according to the Saline County Regional Solid Waste Management District office.
In addition, no drop offs are to be made after hours. The area is monitored by surveillance, and violators will be prosecuted, according to the office.
The household chemicals that are accepted include paints (latex, oil, enamels, etc.), pool chemicals, pesticides, herbicides, used oil, kerosene, paint thinners, batteries (NicCad, Lithium, car, motorcycle, lawn mower), household cleaners, and light bulbs.
