Ilene Huey Hicks

Ilene Huey Hicks, age 94, of Hot Springs, passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2011. 
She was born August 3, 1916 to the late Earnest and Essie Huey of Grant County.  She is predeceased by three sisters, two brothers, a daughter and son-in-law, (Sam and Shirley Shoppach),  Survivors include two daughters, Jackye Johnson of Hot Springs and Linda Irving (Larry) of Gardnerville, Nevada; five grandchildren, Gerald Willis of California, Michael Shoppach (Daphne) and Michelle Shoppach of Benton, Craig  Irving (Denise) and Corey Irving of California; five great -grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. 
Ilene grew up in Shaw community and was quite active in athletics.  She enthusiastically participated in family and community activities.  In earlier days she had a green thumb, a thimble on her finger, and whisk in her hand.  Family shopping trips were great events in her life, puzzles (jigsaw and crossword) were particular pastimes.  Walking was her regular form of exercise.  She was a member of Holland Chapel Baptist Church.
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 pm on Friday, April 22, 2011 at Roller-Ballard.
Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Roller Ballard Funeral Home, 306 South Main Benton, at 1:00 pm Saturday, April 23 2011.   Bro. Larry Burgett of Gospel Light Baptist Church of Hot Springs will be officiating. Interment will follow at New Rosemont Cemetery in Benton.
