Iris Meeks Silvey

Iris Meeks Silvey, 92, of Jonesboro died Friday, Dec. 30, 2011, at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. She was born in Swartz, La., to Charlie L. and Ruth Burford Meeks.
She had lived in Jonesboro for 20 years, moving there from Benton. She was a graduate of Eudora High School and retired after 30 years of service as a licensed psychiatric technician at the Arkansas State Hospital and at George W. Jackson mental health facility in Jonesboro.
She enjoyed watching television and sports and was a member of the Razorback Club for several years.
She also enjoyed listening to the Gaithers, fishing, camping and reading. She was a member of Highland Heights Baptist Church in Benton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Odell Silvey; an infant son; two sisters, Lucille Smith and Mildred Smith; and five brothers, Carlie Meeks, Robert E. Meeks, John D. Meeks, Durwood Meeks and Orville Meeks.
She is survived by her children, Vernon Silvey of Greers Ferry and Helen Mashburn and husband Jim of Jonesboro; a brother, Hope Meeks and wife Vernie of Hodge, La.; two sisters, Willie Mae Reitzell and husband Richard of Monroe, La., and Christine Pitre of Kenner, La.; grandchildren, Dell Silvey, Mark Silvey, Robert Mashburn and wife Jan, Rick Mashburn and wife Aria, Carole Johnson and husband Daniel and Lara Dickson and husband Brad; eight great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Mary Katherine Tolbert.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, at Pinecrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Little Rock with the Rev. Bob Stuckey officiating. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
No visitation is scheduled.
