Irwin Elson Barger

Irwin Elson Barger, 92, of Benton passed away March 5, 2014.  He was born June 27, 1921 in Nettleton, to the late Freeman S. and Bertha Sawyers Barger.
Irwin served in the U.S. Army during World War II.  He was a member of the Highway 5 Church of Christ and held a license in real estate and brokerage.
Irwin was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Bruce Barger; three brothers and three sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Mildred Barger of Benton; four sons, Boyce Barger(Rebecca) of Bryant, Bobby Barger (Sue) of Benton, Billy Barger (Trina) of Kansas and Byron Barger (Malenda) of Avilla; two sisters, Betty Joyce Tucker of North Little Rock and JoAnne Nelson of California; a daughter-in-law, Peggy Barger of Tennessee; 24 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
Funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, March 8, at Highway 5 Church of Christ with Brother James Hamilton officiating. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 7, at the funeral home.
