James C. Evans

James C. Evans, 80, of Fort Smith passed away Saturday, July 14. 
He was born Aug. 22, 1931 in Gladeville, Tenn.  Mr. Evans served in the U.S. Navy, aboard the USS Essex, during the Korean War.  He was a retired insurance agent and a teacher and of the Methodist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Judge Turner S. Evans and Neva Jeanette Dobson Evans; and his brother, Noel Evans.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Patsy Hudson Evans of Fort Smith; a daughter, Courtnay Southard and husband Del of Benton; a son, James B. Evans and wife Angie of Ludowici, Ga.; two brothers, Joe Evans of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Raymond Evans of Lebanon, Tenn; five grandchildren, Jayden, Madison, Grayson and Turner Southard and Cayden Evans; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 17, at Ashby Funeral Home. Burial will follow at New Rosemont Cemetery 
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, July 16 at the funeral home.
 In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Peachtree Hospice at 1001 Towson Ave., Fort Smith, AR 72901.
