A glad reunion is underway in Heaven as Servant of God and beloved friend of all who knew him, the Reverend James R. Buie, joined those who have gone before him on Thursday evening, June 2, 2011. Those who remain in faith of yet another sweet homecoming include his dear wife, Ms. Evelyn Buie of Malvern; children, Mike and Brenda Carr, and Randy and Janice Moore of Malvern, Gay Dumas and Victor and Marsha Smith of Benton; sisters, Areta Sadler and Martha Ernest; seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. In addition with scores of family and friends, Bro. Buie joined his parents, Harding and Birdie Buie of Prattsville, as well as siblings, Esta Webb, Betty Sue Chamblee, Robert Buie and Johnny Buie.
Bro. Buie was a veteran of WWII. He pastored several Arkansas Missionary Baptist Churches and, after retirement, continued the Lord’s work with Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church of Malvern. As long as health permitted, he passionately proclaimed Christ, and in dedication with his wife, provided love, support and compassion to church members no longer able to attend services. He most recently exchanged blessings with the caregivers at the Sheridan Health Care and Rehabilitation facility, as well as medical staff of the Veterans Administration and Saline Memorial Hospitals. The apostle Paul wrote, "..to die is gain.” Although those he left behind can’t fully appreciate those words now, praise God we do not mourn as those who have no hope.
Funeral service will be held at Emmanuel in Malvern at 2 p.m. today with burial immediately following at Philadelphia cemetery in Prattsville. Bro. Buie would appreciate any contribution that furthers the work of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
