Jean F. Adams, 90, of Benton passed away Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014.Â A gifted musician, she was a prominent voice teacher and vocal coach, active with Arkansas Junior Miss and highly sought as a pageant coach.
In the 1960s and early '70s, she directed the chancel choir at First United Methodist Church in Benton.Â She was active in MacDowell Music Club, dance club, and bowling league; was a crossword puzzle enthusiast; and continued to play in a bridge club at the age of 90.Â Known for her beautiful smile and her cheerful spirit, her presence lit up every room.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of over 25 years, Bert Adams; and her parents, Austin Elliot Fitch and Ida Fitch.
She is survived by her children, Bill Adams, Martie Adams and Judy Adams Hand; a brother, Jack Fitch; four granddaughters, Amanda Adams Hill and husband Garrett, Natalie Adams, Molly Hand and Carly Hand; her great-granddaughter, Emerson Hill; a niece, Betty Fitch Terry and husband Tom; and a nephew, Tom Fitch.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to noon Thursday, Jan. 16, in the Fellowship Hall of First United Methodist Church, 200 N. Market St. in Benton.Â The funeral service will follow at noon in the sanctuary.
A graveside service will be held at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Benton First United Methodist Church Music Program.
