John “Smoothie” Gosvenor

John “Smoothie” Gosvenor, 68, of Traskwood; passed away Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013 at his home.  He was born February 2, 1945 in Chidester. John was a truck driver for 48 years and was currently employed by Kenny Adams Trucking of Wynne.  He was of the Baptist faith and an avid fisherman.
John was preceded in death by his father, A.T. Gosvenor of Haskell; his mother, Thelma Gosvenor of Chidester and a brother, Charlie Gosvenor.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years and 7 months, Patsy Martin Gosvenor of Traskwood; daughter, Johnette Witham and husband Carlton of Traskwood; daughter, Malena Hill and husband Rowdy of Traskwood; son, Sgt. Reese Gosvenor and wife Georgann of Traskwood; two grandsons; two granddaughters; one step-granddaughter and two step-great-grandchildren.  He was also survived by his three four-legged buddies, C.J., Caboose and Homer.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31 at the First Missionary Baptist Church of Traskwood with burial at Mt. Harmony Cemetery.  Bro. Bob Barnett will be officiating. Pallbearers will be Sgt. Reese Gosvenor, Cody Gosvenor, Jason Williams, Kenny Adams, Frankie Mitchell and Buddy Highsmith.  Honorary pallbearers will be Terrell Moseley and David Gatlin.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 30 at Ashby Funeral Home.
