John T. “J.T.” Peterson

John T. “J.T.” Peterson, 91, of Bauxite passed away Friday, Jan. 13. He was born Sept. 18, 1920, in Leola.
Mr. Peterson was retired from Alcoa as a mine superintendent. He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of West Bauxite Missionary Baptist Church.
Mr. Peterson was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Webster and Della Ray Peterson; a brother, Kenneth Peterson; and a sister, Odelia Lenger.
 He is survived by his wife of 73 years, DeLena Peterson of Bauxite; a daughter, Kathy Glover and husband William of Bauxite; a son, James Thurston and wife Edith of Sardis; two sisters, Islarea Caviness of Mission, Texas, and Ann Hudson of Bauxite; four grandchildren, Jennifer Glover, John Thurston, Joanna Strike and Jessica Thurston; and four great-grandchildren, Brielle Glover and Josiah, Isaiah and Cassia Strike.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, at West Bauxite Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Melvin Burris officiating. Burial will follow at New Friendship Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Chase Alexander, Dan Peterson, Gary Peterson, John Peterson, John Thurston and Mike Caviness. 
Honorary pallbearers are Sean Alexander, Chad Strike, Eddie Jones and Ricky Teague.
 Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16, at Ashby Funeral Home.
