Joseph Luther Wells Jr., 91, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 30, at his home in Benton. 
He was born Aug. 6, 1921 to Luther and Lessie Wells of Sheridan.
He was a member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, a 50-year Mason and a World War II veteran. 
He was preceded in death by his son, Richard Wells; two brothers; and two sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ruby Wells; his children, Ronnie Wells and wife Kathy of Benton, Sylvia Upperman and husband Roger of Haskell, and Dan Wells and wife Linda of Redfield; his grandchildren, Paul Wells and wife Janna, Phillip Wells, Brian Wells and wife Joana, Steven Upperman, Terri Harper and husband Dickey, and Gene Wells; his 10 great-grandchildren, Cody, Morgan, Riley, Alexandria, Ezekiel, Bryan, Zachary, Lauren, Erin, and Devan; and two great-great grandchildren, Jayden and Jordan.
Funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at Roller-Ballard Funeral Home in Benton (501-315-4047) with Brother Melvin Burris and Brother Scott Nalley officiating. Burial will follow at Orion Cemetery in Redfield.
Serving as pallbearers are James Barnes, Phillip Shepard, Bill Stuckey, Greg Chism, Rick Crumby and Bill Benham. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Men’s Sunday School Class of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
Visitation is set from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, at the funeral home.
