Jr. Hornets dominate
HOT SPRINGS – The Bryant ninth-grade boys earned their second win in a row Tuesday at the Lakeside Relays in Hot Springs. The Jr. Hornets scored a total of 155 points to dominate the field, finishing 41 points ahead of runner-up White Hall.
Mar’Kevius Nelson won the high point award with a total of 35 points. Nelson won the triple jump with a leap of 39’ .75”, placed second in the long jump (18’ 9”), tied for second in the high jump (5’ 4”), placed fourth in the 100-meter dash (12.10), fifth in the 200m dash (24.9) and was part of the third place 4 x 100 meter relay team with Brenden Young, Steven Murdock, and Clark Garland (45.81).
“Once again everybody competed very hard,” Bryant Coach John Orr said. “We knew that going into this meet without John Winn, who is recovering from a slight injury, that some others were going to have to step up and score points, and they really came through for us.”

“Davis had a very strong showing in the 300-meter hurdles, and the discus throwers, Allen and Chapdelaine threw much better,” Orr said. “Mar’kevious continues to score lots of points for us and Brendon Young and Mark Winn continue to dominate their events.”
The Jr. Hornets will be in action again next week at Hot Spring on April 3 and Conway on April 5.
