Katherine Elizabeth Harrison, 83, of Alexander died Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at the Baptist Health Medical Center.
She was born Jan. 1, 1928, in North Little Rock to her late parents, James R. Ard and Estella Gautihier Ard.
Katherine worked for the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in the Canteen for many years and later retired as the Supervisor of Food Services at the VA Hospital. In addition, she enjoyed attending the Sherwood Senior Citizens Bingo, decorating cakes and was a member of the East End Baptist Church. Katherine was a very giving person and her greatest love of all was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Sam Harrison; two sons, Michael and Gene Hampton; two sisters, Ann Whitfield and Mary Ard; and two brothers, James and Shelby Ard.
Survivors include two children, Christine Casey of North Little Rock and Dotty George and husband Darren of Maumelle; one sister, Ethel Lawrence of Little Rock; one brother, Bill Ard of Sherwood; three grandchildren, Paul Hampton and Sam Wofford, both of North Little Rock and Ronnie Wofford of Harrison; and 10 great-grandchildren, Brandon, Brandi, Britt, Britney, Jodie, Austin, Ashleigh, Chloe, Taylor and Danielle.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Griffin Leggett Forest Hills Funeral Home, 10200 Hwy 5 North, Alexander, call 455-1067, with the Rev. Ron Sanders officiating. Burial will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
