Kathleen Kay Hensley, 58, of Benton, passed away Friday, Jan. 24, 2014. Kathy was born on March 19, 1955 in Benton, the daughter of Leo Travis and Doris Nadine (Wilson) Hensley. Kathy began her education at Rural Dale School in Lonsdale, attended Bauxite High School, studied at the St. Vincent Infirmary School of Practical Nursing in Little Rock and graduated with her Licensed Practical Nursing degree on March 2, 1978. Kathy had a kind and gentle soul and enjoyed working with patients in the home health care field. After retirement, she continued her devotion to nursing by caring for several stray kittens and cats. Kathy loved music and adored working in her flower beds. She had a bright smile, an infectious laugh and delighted in telling a spicy joke or two.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents, Arthur Oliver and Maud (Eldridge) Hensley of Traskwood, Clarence James Wilson of Tucson, Arizona and Grace (Simpson) Wilson of Jacksonville, Florida; nephew Brian Cunningham of Benton and Charles Roark, her loving companion of 28 years,
Kathy is survived by her sister, Delores Hensley Cunningham of Benton; two brothers, Donald (Robin) Hensley of Bismarck and Doyle Hensley of Hot Springs; two nephews, Donald (Audrey) Hensley Jr. and Jared Hensley both of Benton; four nieces, Megan Hensley of Bismarck, Stacy Fritzius, Rhonda (Ronald) Venis and Stephanie (Christopher) Dollar all of Benton; three great-nephews; eleven great-nieces, one great-great niece and her beloved cats, K.C, Blue Boy and Mama Cat.
Interment and a memorial service for family and friends will be held in the Hensley family plot at Fairplay Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are by Smith Family Funeral Home, Benton Chapel, 322 N. Market Street, Benton, AR 72015. For more information, call 501-778-7100.
