Kenneth Shepard, 80, of Benton died Wednesday, Dec. 7, in Bryant. He was born Feb. 19, 1931, in Hereford, Texas, to Henry and Mary Shepard.
Kenneth served in the U.S. Navy and retired from Alcoa. He was a member of the Good Samâ€™s Club.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Herman and David; and the love of his life, his wife Mary Beth.
He is survived by a stepdaughter, Liz Alvarez and husband George of El Sobrante, Calif..; a very special grandson, Steffan, whom he loved very much; a sister, Donna Wolf and husband Wayne of Hot Springs; two brothers, James Shepard and wife Betty of North Little Rock; Ronnie Shepard and wife Peggy of Lemont, Ill,; several nieces and nephews; a good friend, Linda Hearn and husband Joe, and many others.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at Ashby Funeral Home with state Rep. Kim Hammer and Jimmy Elrod officiating.
Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. before the service.

Family comments:Â Ken loved to pick and joke with people.Â He was easy to love.Â He truly enjoyed the years he and Beth traveled across the United States.Â This past year he enjoyed residing at Mt. Carmel, where he loved to laugh, visit and drink coffee with his friends.Â We want to thank all the staff at Saline Memorial Hospice, Heartland Rehab, Mt. Carmel and Saline Memorial Hospital for the loving care that was shown to him during his illness.Â Ken was loved and will be greatly missed.
