Knight resigns as chairman of Saline Republican Committee

October 1, 2012

Shane Knight has resigned as chairman of the Saline County Republican Committee.
Rumors of his resignation had been circulating around Saline County for the past week and Knight posted on his Facebook page Sunday that he had made a political move.
Steve McDaniel, second vice chairman of the committee, confirmed Knight's resignation Sunday night. McDaniel did not state the reason for Knight's resignation, but added "the Republican Party will carry on and Shane isn't the first chairman to have to resign because of personal conflicts."
Nancy Carlton is the current first vice chairperson of the committee. Carlton is currently out of town. Messages sent to her for a comment were not returned at press time.
As first chair, Carlton will assume the duties of chairperson until the committee meets for annual officer elections in January 2013.
Messages sent to Knight on Sunday night and Monday morning were not returned.
The Saline Courier will continue to cover this story as details are released.
