Lady Hornet tennis team picks up wins over Van Buren

The Bryant Lady Hornets won three out of their four varsity matches, defeating Van Buren last Thursday at Rebsamen Tennis Center in Little Rock. The boys team lost both their singles and doubles matches.
Lady Hornets senior Callie Hogancamp defeated Brittney Yeamons 8-6 in Girls 1 singles and sophomore Whitney Butler beat Logan Moore 8-4 in Girls 2 singles for the singles’ sweep.
“Callie Hogancamp got back on the winning track and Whitney won her second conference match of the three so far,” Bryant Coach Steve Wilson said.
In girls doubles, seniors Kristen Dudley and Autumn Rouse lost 4-8 to Brittney Yeamons and Logan Moore in Girls 1, and senior Allie Hogancamp and junior Sara Lequieu beat Naczaly Ramos and Makayla Trentham 8-5 in Girls 2 doubles.
For the Hornets, junior Cade Howard lost a close one to Ben Lanier 8-8 (5-7) in Boys 1 singles and junior Nick Ross was defeated by Sam Hill 2-8 in Boys 2 singles.
“Cade Howard lost a tough-fought match in a tie-breaker,” Wilson said.
The Hornets were swept in boys doubles with juniors Dalton Lane and Lane Ricardo dropping the Boys 1 doubles to Josh Lee 0-8 and junior Spencer Sullivan and sophomore Noah Hargis lost 0-8 to Wendell Liles in Boys 2 doubles.
In other action, Lady Hornets sophomore Emma Patrick lost 1-8 to Ashley Lopez, senior Erica Pounders lost 2-8 to Trentham, and Patrick and Pounders lost to Arzely Ramos and Prisilla Grande 5-8.
In boys, sophomore Caleb Hixon lost 1-8 to Michael Dasso, Sullivan lost 0-8 to Dylan Killough, and Hargis lost to Liles 2-8. In doubles, Lane and Ricardo lost to Brett Dunn and Ty Dunn 2-8, and Hixon and Ross lost to Levi Hays and Killough 1-8.
Bryant takes on the Russellville boys and girls tennis teams today at 3:30 at Rebsamen Tennis Center in Little Rock.
