Lady Miners to play tough competition

November 14, 2011

The Bauxite Lady Miners will kick off the Arkansas Alumni Girls Basketball Classic tournament held at Little Rock Hall High School. The Lady Miners will play the Lonoke Lady Jackrabbits in the opening game of the tournament at 4 p.m.
The Lady Miners will get to test their mettle against some of the top teams in the state last season. The tournament features six state tournament teams, including one quarterfinals team, three semifinal teams and a finals team.
Little Rock Parkview lost to El Dorado in the 6A State Finals game last year. Cabot and North Little Rock were both 7A semifinal teams, and Pulaski Academy, which is in the same conference as Bauxite, was a 4A semifinal team last year. Little Rock Hall was knocked out in the quarterfinals of the 7A tournament and Little Rock Central lost in the first round of the 7A state tournament last year.
After the Bauxite/Lonoke game, Parkview will play Cabot, followed by Central/Pulaski Academy, and Hall and North Little Rock finish the night up. If the Lady Miners advance, they will finish up on Nov. 17 and Nov. 19.
Bauxite started the year last Tuesday with a win over rival Glen Rose. The Lady Miners won 52-24 to improve to 1-0 on the year.
