Lady Miners resume play in Alumni Classic tourney

The Bauxite Lady Miners resume play in the Arkansas Girls Alumni Classic at Little Rock Hall High School tonight. The Lady Miners will play the Little Rock Parkview Lady Patriots in the second round at approximately 7 p.m. tonight.
Bauxite (2-0) defeated the Lonoke Lady Jackrabbits 60-41 in the first round of the classic on Monday, while Parkview (1-0) beat Cabot 64-60.
Lady Miners’ senior forward Alaina Crouse leads the team in scoring for the first two games with a 17.0 point-per-game average and is 9 of 12 (75 percent) from the 3-point line.
Junior Mary Crow is averaging 14.5 points per game to go along with 6.0 steals per game. Crow also averages 4.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game.
Against Cabot, Parkview senior post player Erin Peoples led the Lady Patriots with 17 points and junior Roshunda Johnson had 16.
After opening the season with a 53-35 win over rival Glen Rose, the Bauxite Miners will host the Bismarck Lions tonight at Dawson Gym in Bauxite. The Miners will play after the junior girl’s and boy’s games which begin at 5 p.m.
The Miners (1-0) had 18 steals in their opening game and held the Beavers to just 20 total shots for the game. Bauxite had a total of 61 shots.
Senior Cody McPherson led the Miners with 22 points an six steals, adding six rebounds. Junior Tyler Hill had six points and nine rebounds.
