Larry Eugene Oswalt

January 2, 2013

Larry Eugene Oswalt, 64, of Hot Springs passed away Saturday, Dec. 29, with his loving wife Felicia and family by his side. Born Oct. 30, 1948, to the late W.E. “Tiny” and Betty Oswalt in Forrest City, Larry was the older of two sons. He received his education in the Forrest City School District and was known as an especially talented and gifted athlete. Upon the completion of high school, Larry received a full baseball scholarship to the University of Mississippi ("Ole
Miss"), where he graduated with a business degree. Larry continued to be a devout Ole Miss Rebels fan after college. He served in the U.S. Army with the 11th Bravo, but due to injury he was forced to receive an honorable discharge.
Larry was a successful business man and was chief operating officer/co-owner (with wife Felicia) of Environmental Management Services of Arkansas, LLC, a business the two built together. Although Larry was an accomplished businessman, nothing meant more to him than spending time with his family and friends. Larry was a loving husband to Felicia, and together they raised the prides of Larry’s life, three children: Trevor, Mandy and Timmy. Larry’s family was the love of his life, and he enjoyed spending summers on the lake, riding in his boat, surrounded by family and friends. He loved taking walks with his children and grandchildren and attending Ole Miss football games with his boys. A highlight of his life was watching his grandchildren follow in his footsteps playing football, baseball and basketball. Larry’s business associates and employees were very important to him and he always looked forward to his visits with them.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Lynn Oswalt.
He is survived by his wife, Felicia Oswalt of Hot Springs; son Trevor Oswalt and wife Andrea of Hot Springs; daughter Mandy Ferguson and husband Shane of Maumelle; son Timmy Oswalt and wife Khrista of Hot Springs; grandchildren Meaghan, Abigail and Gracie Oswalt of Benton; Cohen and Tate Ferguson of Maumelle; and Brennon, Andrew and Addison Oswalt of Hot Springs. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Diane Oswalt, wife of late brother Lynn, and their three children, Chris and wife Kara, Barrett and Katy Oswalt, all of West Memphis; his father- and mother-in-law, Felix and Marilyn Childress; and brother-in-law Randy Childress and family, Colleen, Meredith and Blake all of Bauxite.
He will be very definitely greatly missed by all these and hosts of friends, who loved him dearly.
A funeral service will be held 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 3 at Central Church of Christ in Little Rock, with burial to follow at Mount Olive Cemetery in Bauxite. Rev. Leon Barnes and Rev. Clyde Chenault will be officiating. Pallbearers will be Chris Oswalt, Barrett Oswalt, Blake Childress, James Jordan, Bruce Wilson, Page Echols, Dusty Echols and Don Zimmerman. Honorary pallbearers will be All EMSOA employees.
Visitation will be held 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2 at Ashby Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to his grandchildren’s college fund at any Arvest Bank location, c/o Larry Oswalt Memorial Fund.
