Lee Roy Parson, 70, of Benton, passed away Tuesday Oct. 11, at Saline Memorial Hospital. He was born August 1, 1941 in Benton to the late Zack and Ida Greenlee Parson. He was a graduate of Bauxite High School and attended Quachita Baptist University. Mr. Parson was a retired logging contractor and maintenance lead at Rineco. He was of Baptist faith.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Armetha Ward and a brother, Etheridge Parson.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Rita Parson of Benton; Two sons, Michael Flood, Jr. and wife Roselle of Missouri and Wayne Frederiksen of Benton; four grandchildren, Matthew and Brian Frederiksen of Benton and Cane and Crissa Flood of Missouri, one brother, Jimmy Parson; two sisters, Shirley Coppock and husband, Pete and La Donna Parson, all of Benton; two nephews, Talmadge Ward and Jerry Don Parson; four nieces, Donna Richardson and husband Jerry, Dawn Parson, Miriam Talbert and husband Danny and Gwen Nordman and husband Andy; three great-nieces, three great-nephews and numerous other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers are Fred DuVall, Joe Huggins, Kevin Mansfield. Bobby Neal, Andy Nordman, Keith Ramsey, Jerry Richardson and Danny Talbert. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Ramsey, Talmadge Ward, Robert Gary Parsons, Floyd Shaw, Paul Parsons, M.B. "Pete" Coppock and SSG Dawn Parson.
Services will be Friday, Oct. 14, at 10 a.m. with Rev. J. Clyde Chenault and Rev. Kim Hammer officiating. Burial will follow in New Friendship Cemetery in the Shaw Community.
Visitation will be Thursday, Oct. 13, 6 to 8 p.m. at Roller-Ballard Funeral Home.
Family Comments: Lee Roy was an avid hunter and outdoors-man who found enjoyment in each day of his life. He loved his family and was the greatest "peepaw" to his grandsons, Matthew and Brian, whom he was helping raise for the past six years. He will be greatly missed by all.
