Lloyd Frederick 'Freddie' Prickett

February 27, 2012

Lloyd Frederick "Freddie" Prickett, 84, of Bryant passed away on Wednesday evening, Feb. 22.
Freddie was born June 10, 1927, in Bryant, the son of Fay Rowland-Prickett and Edward Wesley Prickett. He grew up with a love for baseball as the third baseman for the Bryant Rebels. The son of a farmer, he learned what it meant to put in a hard day's work at an early age. He graduated from Bryant High School in 1945 as the salutatorian. He then chose to attend Draughan's Business School before returning home to take care of the family-owned Prickett Dairy Inc. as vice president.
For years, relationships grew into lifelong friendships as he joined fellow players on the golf course. As birthdays came and went, he was never left without his family. Whether it be driving David to school, afternoon drives with Dianna, developing friendships on the golf course, or watching the Cardinals play ball, he was involved in all of our lives and always there to lend a helping hand.
Still independent, he finished strong, living out his many years on the old home place. His faith lay as a charter member of Grace Baptist Church of Bryant.  Always supportive, always gentle, and always a kind word for everyone, he was an inspiration to each and everyone. His joyous smile was an invitation for laughter. He held his family and friends very dear to his heart and will be forever missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Fay Rowland-Prickett and Edward Wesley Prickett; and his two brothers, Max Rowland Prickett and John Wesley Prickett.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Dianna Prickett-Hamm and husband Dustin; a son, David Nelson and wife Wendy; his two grandchildren, David Allen Nelson and Cole Nelson; a sister, Linda Prickett-Jackson and husband David Sr.; his sisters-in-law, Sally McKelvey-Prickett and Willene Prickett; nephews Joel Prickett and wife Melissa, John Prickett and wife, Tommie, David Jackson Jr., Jimmy Powell and wife Jacklyn, Buck Powell, Mike Smart and wife Ellen; nieces, Martha Jackson, Beth Powell, Tracy Smart, and Linda Davis; grand-nephews, Jacob Prickett, Clayton Prickett, Moxley Powell, Dillon Davis, Ross Smart, Chase Brockinton, and Matthew Brockinton; grand-nieces, Gracie Carroll, Carli Walker, Abigail Prickett, Tara Benedetti, Elizabeth White, Kristen Davis, and Jessica Hope; his former wife and lifelong friend, Norma Bullock-Prickett; and a host of family and friends.
