Full Service Auto Repair Specialists
Ramsey: ‘We strive to be an honest business’
Johnny and Lisa
Ramsey, who purchased
Ramsey Tire and Auto
Service March 2011, have
made many improvements
to the shop, and they
say they will continue to
upgrade equipment while
offering “top-notch” ser-
vice to the people of Saline
County.
“We strive to be an hon-
est and reliable auto repair
business, serving all the
needs of the community,”
Lisa Ramsey said. “Many
times, people think we
just do tires, but we are so
much more.”
Ramsey Auto sells all
major brands of tires, but
they also offer general
auto repair, including air
conditioning repair, brake
repair, tune-ups, align-
ments and engine diag-
nostics. Also, they replace
struts and shocks and
provide lifts and custom
wheels.
They have a crew that
specializes in tires and
general maintenance and
a crew that specializes in
repairs and diagnostics,
and the staff has more
than 90 years’ combined
experience.
Sam Grimmett is shop
foreman and alignment
specialist.
He has 11 years’ experi-
ence doing alignments and
“is absolutely one of the
best there is in alignments
and front-end repair,”
Ramsey said.
James Goforth is a sales-
person, service writer and
wheel specialist. “He can
find a wheel for any make,
model or taste, as well as
guide you in selecting the
best tires for your driving
needs,” Ramsey said.
Any customer’s tire
needs can be met by Kerry
Bannon and Goforth, who
have extensive experience
in the major tire brands
and selecting the best tire
for your family, while con-
sidering all of your needs,
including safety.
Ramsey Auto’s mechani-
cal staff includes Sam
Grimmett and Barney
Lynn with 30-plus years of
experience.
“We have a full crew of
tire repair and installation
specialists ready to serve,”
Lisa Ramsey said.
Owner Johnny Ramsey,
who serves on the Pulaski
Tech Auto Education
Board, also acts as general
manager of the shop.
The business was origi-
nally started more than
10 years ago by Terry
Fought, who operated
under the name Fought
Tire.
Since the Ramseys
purchased the business,
they have bought a new
RobinAir air conditioning
machine, remodeled the
waiting area and added
an inventory of custom
wheels.
They look forward to
making more changes
and have enjoyed owning
a company in this com-
munity.
“We love Saline
County,” Lisa said.
“It is home. We have
great people and great
opportunities here.”

Over the years, Bill has served Saline County in the Transmission
and Automotive repair business, and he is proud to have the

New Tire Town center
allows for more service
The men that work at
the new Tire Town Truck
Center at 2506 Edison Ave.
in Benton agree that the
word that best describes
owner Chester Harris is
“dependable.”
This is perhaps the
greatest asset for those in
the auto mechanic profes-
sion, and it has served
Harris well during his 42
years of experience in the
industry. He has “earned
trust” from his customers
during nearly two decades
of ownership of Tire Town
on Military Road, said
Tire Town Truck Center
assistant manager Jake
Sky-Eagle.
“I have been able to
meet many people through
the years,” Harris said.
“They started out as cus-
tomers, and they have
become friends.”
The reliability Saline
County residents equate
with the Tire Town name
is found at the new truck
center which was opened
to provide “more conve-
nience for our customers,”
Harris said. “There’s not
a tire store on that side of
town, and there are a lot
of people that travel that
road during the commute
and a lot of people who we
look forward to providing
nearby service to in that
part of the county.”
The Tire Town Truck
Center is able to accom-
modate more commercial
customers, Sky-Eagle said.
Tire Town Truck Center’s
spacious location is able to
service a greater number
of large trucks at a time.
The shop has the capabil-
ity to work on everything
from trailers and tractors
to back hoes and dump
trucks.
As offered at the Military
Road location, the truck
center provides a roadside
repair service. “If your
dump truck or backhoe
blows out a tire, you can
call us and we’ll change it
on site,” Sky-Eagle said.
“Time is money. Our cus-
tomers want to get back to
work as soon as possible.”
Sky-Eagle said this ser-
vice will be accessible to a
much larger area with the
addition of the new store.
Opening the new store
has also opened up oppor-
tunities at the Military loca-
tion. The staff has opened
two additional bays for
auto service, leaving seven
bays total available.
Basically, with the new
truck center, the other
location is able to service
more of the smaller vehi-
cles,” Harris said.
Harris brought over
some of the staff from
the other store to work at
the Edison location and
has hired Sky-Eagle on as
assistant manager.
Several staff members
at the Military location are
moving into new positions
due to the opening of the
new store. Randy Bellinger
is now store manager,
Jason Harris is assistant
manager, Philipe Salinez
has advanced to sales-
man, and Tire Town has
hired tire specialist Patrick
Newman.
Both Tire Town loca-
tions are owned and
operated by the Harris
family. Harris and his wife
Vickie have owned the
store since 1994, when
it was purchased by Jim
Looney and Chester Harris
from Tom Thompson. In
addition to his son, Jason
Harris, Chester Harris also
employs his daughter, sis-
ter and brother.
Clearly, “trust” is a key
word at Tire Town. Trust
in him is what Harris
depends on for his liveli-
hood.
“We have a real good
customer base that Chester
has worked with for years
and years,” Sky-Eagle said.
“They never question the
quality of work.”
Tire Town has been
voted best of the best tire
dealer in Saline County for
13 years.

Williams Tire ‘treats everyone like family’
Williams Tire and
Service in Benton is a fami-
ly-owned, full-service repair
shop. For about 30 years,
they have offered vehicle
maintenance with the most
modern techniques pos-
sible.
“We get all kinds of new,
up-to-date tests on how to
test cars and ways to fix
them,” said owner, Arvin
Williams.
For example, Williams
said he is starting to learn
more about hybrid vehicles
in order to better service
those customers who drive
them.
Williams was also one
of the first tire businesses
in the area to offer nitro-
gen gas for tire air refill.
Refilling tires with nitrogen
gives the tires a longer life
and gives the vehicle better
gas mileage. The passen-
gers will notice a difference
with nitrogen tires because
the gas makes the vehicle
have a smoother ride, said
Pamela Rice, office man-
ager at Williams. Nitrogen
is even used in the tires of
NASCAR.
“Everyone that gets it
keeps coming back for
it,” Rice said. Anyone can
bring a tire to receive the
nitrogen, even if the tires
are not new.
In addition to staying
on top of new technology,
Williams prides himself
on Williams Tire being a
family-owned business —
Williams works alongside
his son-in-law and grandson
— and a one-stop-shop for
vehicle maintenance.
The team has three
people who work only on
basic automobile mainte-
nance and two people who
work on the mechanical
end of the business. They
also have two master tech-
nicians that do work on
transmissions. According to
Rice, the staff at Williams
Tire believes that having
the team divided into spe-
cialties helps get customers
in and out quicker..
Williams Tire also offers
tires for cars, trucks, go-
carts, four-wheelers and
lawn mowers at prices to
fit any budget. Their tire
brands include, but are
not limited to, Michelin,
Uniroyal and Cooper.
Williams also offers com-
puter wheel balance, front-
end alignments and repairs,
oil changes, brake service,
shock absorbers, tuneups,
air conditioning service and
much more.
The convenience of a
one-stop-shop is impor-
tant, but what really sets
Williams Tire apart is the
way they treat their cus-
tomers.
“He treats everyone like
family,” Rice said with a
smile.
And that makes a differ-
ence. Over decades of ser-
vice, Williams has had few
complaints. “I like getting
out and meeting people,”
Williams said. He has
known some of his custom-
ers for four or five genera-
tions and has memories of
helping get state troopers,
sheriff’s office and Benton
police vehicles outfitted
with tires.
Williams decided to get
into the tire business in
1981, after he determined
“his ability to work on cars
was as good as anyone
else,” Rice said.
While he doesn’t get his
hands dirty as much as he
used to, Williams said he
often road-tests vehicles
that are brought in for ser-
vice to see what’s wrong
with them.
Hours of operation are
7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Monday-
