Man charged with having drugs and explosives
An Alexander man has been charged with several drug and firearms charges.
Jimmy Hearington, 29, is facing 30 charges in connection with the investigation.
On Sunday, Saline County Sheriff's deputies responded to a shooting on Centark Cove. When deputies arrived at the scene, they found that the victim had suffered a self-inflicted wound, said Lt. Scott Courtney, Saline County Sheriff's Office spokesperson.
While investigating the shooting, detectives found several explosives and firearms.
"The female victim in the shooting was a felon and should not have had access to firearms," Courtney said.
After obtaining a search warrant, detectives located explosive devices and numerous firearms, including several that were reported stolen, Courtney said. Methamphetamine also was found at the home, he said.
Hearington has been charged with furnishing a handgun to a felon, three counts of criminal use of prohibited weapons, 20 counts of simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, possession of a controlled substance, four counts of theft by receiving and possession of drug paraphernalia, Courtney said.
A $50,000 bond was set for Hearington, according to the Saline County Sheriff's Office Detection Center inmate roster.
