Marga “Momma Jean” Torres

Marga “Momma Jean” Torres passed away on May 20 with her family by her side. She was born Dec. 27, 1928, to the late Andrew and Effie Wallis in Norman, Okla.
Marga enjoyed quilting, gardening, reading, going to yard sales and spoiling her grandbabies. Marga was a wonderful mother and grandmother; her children and grandchildren could not have asked for a more loving and caring "momma."
She was preceded in death by her parents; the father of her children, Hershal Parker Sr.; and two great grandchildren, David Allen and Bobbie Jo Sweatt.
Marga is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Robert Torres; six daughters, Nina Golden, Nona Osburn and husband Kenneth, Rhoda Glenn and husband Gene, Deidre “Dede” Young and husband Kenneth, Juanita Gentry and Patty Chandler; three sons, Quentin “Bubba” Parker and wife Adela, Hershal Parker Jr.and wife Naomi and Russell Wheeler and wife Reda; 29 grandchildren, David, Judy, April, Jennifer, Paul, Barbara, James, John, Daisha, Kevin, Jeannie, Tommy, Sara, Danny, Teresa, Mindy, Mark, Ed, Starr, Loy, James, Carissa, Katie, Rustin, Jacob, Rickie, Sammy, Candace and Dillon; 55 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great grandchildren; and many friends and relatives who all loved her and will miss her dearly.
A celebration of her life will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 24, at Dial and Dudley Funeral Home in Bryant.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers are Paul Burks, Danny Reynolds, James Gentry, Rustin Parker, Tommy Young and Dillon Chandler. Honorary pallbearers are David Wayne Harkness, Jacob Parker, John Rose, Ed Stroud and James Rose.
