Martha Virginia 'Toby' Carter

Martha Virginia "Toby" Carter, 91, of Benton, passed away Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014. 
She was born Feb. 18, 1922, to the late Martin and Grace Huchingson Wills in Benton.
Toby retired from Alcoa after serving as manager in the traffic department. After retirement, she traveled extensively to other countries.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Benton, where she was involved in many committees and was active in the United Methodist Women.
She was a member and leader of Benton Business and Professional Women's Club and served on the University of Arkansas Transportation Committee.
Toby was actively involved for many years with Churches Joint Council on Human Needs (CJCOHN). 
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dan Roy Carter; a sister, Norma Wills Salley; a brother-in-law, Glynn Scott Salley; and her brother, Wayne Martin Wills.
She is survived by two nieces, Karen Lynn Salley (Larry Laitner) of Ashland, Ore., and Merlyn Salley Caywood (Cecil) of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three sisters-in-law, Frances Wills, Pat Carter Ioup (Joe) and Peggy Carter, all of Benton; and many extended family members.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, at First United Methodist Church in Benton. Burial will be at New Rosemont Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, at Ashby Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Churches Joint Council on Human Needs.
