Mary Alma Pever Johnson, 87, of Bauxite went to be with the Lord on May 17. She was born July 18, 1924, to the late Hiram and Jessie Pever in Athens, Ala. Mary enjoyed working word search puzzles, traveling, bird watching and African violets. She retired after years of dedication from teaching developmental disabled adults in Athens, Ala. Her most precious memories were times spent with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, O.B. Johnson; two sisters; one brother and one granddaughter, Lori Johnson.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Donna VanDevender and husband Karl; two sons, James Johnson and wife, Diane and Earl Johnson and wife Carolyn; seven grandchildren, Kevin Johnson and wife Heather, Keith Johnson and wife Ebony, David Johnson and wife Jennifer, Daniel Johnson, Michael Johnson and wife Rachel, Cooper VanDevender and wife Angie and Tanner VanDevender; eight great-grandchildren, Tessa, Zachary, Madeline, Isaac, Elijah, Abigail, Mallory and Autumn; and a host of family and friends who all loved her and will miss her dearly.
A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 19, at Dial and Dudley Funeral Home. Burial will be held in Athens, Ala.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
