Mayor Dabbs appoints 2 to city's park committee
Bryant Mayor Jill Dabbs announced she has appointed two people to the Bryant Park Committee.
John "Hap" Campbell and Joe Heard are scheduled to take their place on the committee in the Ward 2, Positions 1 and 2, respectively.
Campbell grew up in Helena and West Helena and attended DeSoto School.
"He has always been an avid outdoorsman starting when he was a young child," Dabbs said.
In 2006, Campbell moved to Bryant. In 2011, he married his wife Melissa and in December of 2012 he moved to Richardson Place. He currently serves as the vice president of the Property Owners Association in that subdivision.
"My wife and I love Bryant and its community and are so happy to be able to get involved and give back. This opportunity is a true blessing and I look forward to working with this committee," Campbell said.
Heard grew up in a family owned food market in Hoxie, a small town filled with rice and cotton fields.
Heard said his agrarian heritage caused him to develop a deep appreciation for agriculture and the impact of nature on people's lives.
Heard attended Williams College and Arkansas State University, where he earned a master's degree in counseling.
He owns a private counseling practice in the Benton/ Bryant area.
"Mr. Heard's passion for the outdoors, knowledge of plant propagation and beautification through landscape will make him an invaluable member of the Parks Advisory Committee," Dabbs said.
These appointments will require approval by the Bryant City Council, she said.
