Mayor Mattingly Encourages Safety During Winter Storm

December 5, 2013

Major David Mattingly sent out a press release encouraging safety during the impending winter storm. Mattingly said, "We have held discussions with all department heads regarding whatever assistance the city can provide as a result of a bad winter storm. As we receive notice of where warming shelters will be located we will post that information on our website."
The city has been notified by Northside Church of Christ that they will be open as a warming center and can be reach at (501)315-1128.
The Go Benton website will be in contact with Benton Public Utilities and the Office of Emergency Management for updated weather advisories.
Benton Police and Fire Departments will be on emergency standby and will be able to assist citizens as incidents occur. Both departments can be reached by dialing 911.
The City of Benton Street Department trucks will be spreading sand and salt on city streets and specifically on those areas which are known as the most treacherous during an ice event.
Stay safe out there.
