Moore to seek re-election to council

Benton City Alderman Brad Moore

Benton resident Brad Moore has announced candidacy for a 5th term as Ward 4/Position 1 Alderman on the Benton City Council.
Moore lists his accomplishments as alderman as actions of which he is proud and which include:
· As chairman, Personnel Committee presented Comprehensive Employee Handbook
(passed unanimously) that is currently used
· As chairman, Personnel Committee presented proposal to settle lawsuit with
AFSCME union (passed unanimously)
· As chairman, Billboard Ad-Hoc Committee presented the "Billboard
Ordinance" (passed unanimously) that is currently used
· As a member of the A&P Commission, worked with other commissioners to
develop the current Events Center project that was passed by 72% of the voters
· As commissioner, proposed joint effort of A&P and Parks to rehab parks to
secure Wally Hall Tournament of Champions
· As chairman, Billboard Ad-Hoc Committee presented Comprehensive Billboard
Ordinance (passed unanimously)
· As member of the Street Committee, pushed for funding for $1.3MIL Shady
Lane Project (passed unanimously) that was completed in 2010
· As member of the Animal Control Committee, we increased adoption rates of
animals and dedicated funding for remodeling the Benton Animal Control Center
· As member of the Budget & Finance Committee, we proposed budgets that were
balanced to actual year revenues instead of available funds
· As commissioner, worked with other A&P commissioners to develop the
current Events Center project that was passed by 72% of the voters in November of
2011
· As commissioner, presented the A&P budget proposal for 2012 that dedicated
96.5% of revenues to the Events Center project (passed unanimously)
Moore lists goals for a next term to be:
· Secure additional long-term water resources for Benton
· Complete the "Lower Military Road" project
· Continue to increase the economic and community impact of the Wally Hall
Tournament of Champions
· Continue to increase Benton's economic opportunities
· Continue to enhance public safety services for Benton
· Continue to increase adoption rates at Benton Animal Control
· Utilize the 5% liquor tax to eliminate chronic drainage problems in Benton
· Continue to support redevelopment of Military Road to restore it to the
premiere center of commerce of Saline County
· Continue to support developers, contractors and realtors to "Grow a Better
Benton"
· Work with state legislators to obtain funding for projects and services in
Benton
· Support grassroots' effort to secure funding to restore the "Old River
Bridge"
· Continue efforts to secure the return of the "Peeler Bend Canoe" to Benton

Moore is the son of Lynn (former Benton mayor) and Peggy Moore, lifelong residents of Benton. Moore is married to Lexi Moore and together they are the parents of Molly Moore (sophomore at UCA studying nursing), Mason Lockridge (Sophomore at Benton High School), Susanna Moore (Sophomore at Benton High School) and Madison Lockridge (eight grade student at Benton Junior High).
Moore attended Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia and graduated in 1986. He is a member of First Baptist Church in Benton.
