Morgan L. Hodkin
Morgan L. Hodkin, 91, of Benton went home to be with the Lord on April 4. He was born Oct. 13, 1920 to the late Bill and Grace Hodkin of Carthage, Mo. Mr. Hodkin was a deacon for more than 60 years a member of Holland Chapel Church. Morgan was the mechanical engineer director of the physical plant at UAMS for 26 years.
After he retired from UAMS in 1975, he was the field director with Carter, Chilcoat Icobaum Rouse and Walker.
Mr. Hodkin served in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of World War II, serving USS Prairie Schooner seaman third-class station on Ulithie Island, a repair base for damaged boats. He received an honorable discharge in 1944.
Mr. Hodkin was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Kowana Sprouse and Joann Baxter; and one son, Phillip L. Hodkin.
He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Verna F. Hodkin; two children, Patricia Pruden and husband Joe and Morgan Ellis Hodkin and wife Elaine; four grandchildren, David Pruden and wife Julie, Cherri Pruden, Jessica Overall and husband Matt and Tara Hodkin; three great-grandchildren, Sarah Ellis and husband Chris, Brody Overall and Jax Overall; two great-great-grandchildren, Madison and Paisley Ellis; two sisters, Inez Small and Mildred Fuller; one brother, John Hodkin and wife Vela; and many nieces, nephews and friends who loved him and will miss him dearly.
A celebration of Mr. Hodkin’s life will be held 11 a.m. Friday, April 6, at Dial and Dudley Funeral Home.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
