Morris Scott Smith

Morris Scott Smith, 47, of Benton, died Monday, Sept. 12, at Saline Memorial Hospital.  Mr. Smith was born Oct. 29,1963 in Little Rock, to the Rev. Morris L. and Elizabeth Reed Smith.  He attended Arkansas Tech University and was a graduate of Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy.  He had been a deputy sheriff in Marion and Yell counties and was last employed by U.S. Security Services at Saline Memorial Hospital. 
He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Benton.
 Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his father; a niece, Brooke Cramer; and a nephew, Andrew Barton.
He is survived by his mother, Elizabeth Smith of Benton; a son, Bryant Smith and wife Stephanie of Benton; three sisters, Stephanie Wiggins and husband Jimmy of Denton, Texas, Susan Cramer and husband Tony of North Richland Hills, Texas, and Sharon Barton and husband Jim of Beaverton, Ore.; a granddaughter, Olivia Claire Smith of Benton; four nephews, Leighton Wiggins, Alex Cramer and Jordan Cramer, all of Texas, and Tom Barton of Oregon; two nieces, Lindsey Faucett and husband Cody and Erin Cramer, all of Texas; his former wife, Sallie Smith of Benton; two stepdaughters, Crystal Nagle of Fort Smith, and Stacia Nagle of Benton; and three step-grandchildren.  He is also survived by a special friend, Jennifer Sullivan of Benton.
 A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, at First United Methodist Church of Benton with the Rev. David Jones Officiating.
Cremation was through Ashby Funeral Home.
