Nelma Deloris Carpenter, 72, of Little Rock, entered into heaven with her grandson, Tommy Aaron Buck Carpenter, on Thursday, Oct. 20.
She was born July 10, 1939, in Dresden, Kan., to the late Charles Otis Runyon and Lillian Hazel Hale Runyon. She earned a Bachelor of Science in music ministry and education from Southern Arkansas University and was a licensed minister with the General Council of the Assemblies of God. At the time of her passing, she was co-director of Assemblies of God World Missions Prayer Task Force.
She was an accomplished pianist, enjoyed fishing and spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Tommy R. Carpenter Sr.; a daughter, Dana Harden and husband Marty of Patterson, La.; two sons, Thomas Carpenter and wife Angelia of Haskell and Ched Carpenter and wife Leah of Prairie Grove; nine grandchildren, Brandon Harden, Raigan Harden, Austin Harden, Keatyn Harden, Jenel Carpenter, Alexa Carpenter, Isabella Carpenter, Chase Carpenter, Campbell Grace Carpenter; sisters, Faith Porter and husband, Floyd of Jonesboro; Lavonne Wimberly of Corning; and a brother, James Otis Runyon and wife, Fernetta of Salt Lake City, Utah.
Funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 26, at Benton First Assembly of God, 1801 Hot Springs Highway, Benton, with the Revs. Jim Bales and Alan Womack officiating. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Oakwood Cemetery in Paris, Ark.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
